The Devon-based team at Helpful Holidays has proudly raised £579 for Dartmoor Rescue, their chosen charity of the year — a figure that will be fund matched by the business, bringing the total donation to £1,158.
The fundraising efforts included a well-attended coffee morning held at the Helpful Holidays office on 25th September, which raised £264, and a sponsored walk completed by Owner Success Manager James Webb, who trekked 24.93 miles from Looe to Plymouth on 10th October, raising £315.
James said, “I’m proud to have completed the challenge — it was tough but incredibly rewarding. Dartmoor Rescue does vital work across our region, and I hope the money raised helps them continue their life-saving efforts.”
Helpful Holidays has been part of the local community for over 40 years, offering expert advice and support to holiday home owners and guests across the South West. With deep roots in the region, the team is passionate about giving back to the community and supporting causes that make a real difference.
Alec Collyer MBE, Treasurer of Dartmoor Rescue Group, commented, “All of the four Dartmoor Rescue Teams are hugely grateful to the Helpful Holidays fundraisers, especially James on his marathon walk! We don’t get any direct Government funding so everything has to be fundraised or donated – each team costs around £30,000 a year to keep running so it’s a huge challenge. It’s not just ‘Dartmoor’ nowadays, we get called by the Police to search for high risk and vulnerable persons anywhere in their force area as well.”
James finished, “A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed — whether by baking or buying cakes at the coffee morning, making donations, or simply cheering me on along the way.”
